BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY: The history of this breed can be traced back to Western Han Dynasty (BC 202- AD 8). Archaeologists found a huge Western Han Dynasty’s graveyard in Chongqing on 20th April, 2000. A large number of dog pottery statues of their kind were found. Some of them served the purpose of being protector Gods to accompany the tomb of the noble family in spirit. This ancient breed was also used for hunting in the mountain area of East Sichuan. They are intelligent, fearless, agile species with outstanding senses of smell. Chuandong Hound are medium-sized dogs and are covered with short harsh coat, which enhances their flexibility to go through the bush while hunting.

历史概述：这个犬种的历史可以追溯到西汉时期（公元前202-公元8年）。考古学家于2000年4月20日在重庆发现了一个巨大的西汉墓穴。发现了大量同类狗的陶勇。其中有些是作为保护神，在精神上守护贵族家族的坟墓。在四川东部山区这种古老的犬种也用于打猎。它们聪明、无畏、敏捷，嗅觉灵敏。川东猎犬是中型犬，覆盖着短而粗糙的被毛，从而增强他们穿越丛林打猎的适应性。

 

GENERAL APPEARANCE: Medium-sized dog, fearless. Muscles are well developed, and its anatomical structure is suitable for activities.

整体外形：中型犬，无畏的个性。肌肉发达，身体结构表现适合活动。

 

IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS: The dog is rectangular in outline and slightly longer than the tall. The length of skull is equivalent to the length of the muzzle, divided by stop, as equally as possible. Height to elbow about half height at withers.

重要比例：长方形的狗，身长略长于肩高。从额断测量，头骨的长度与口吻部长度尽可能相同。肘部到地面的距离约为肩高的一半。

 

 

BEHAVIOUR AND TEMPERAMENT: Fearless, tough and active with excellent jumping ability.

行为/秉性：无畏、坚定、有活力且具有很强的弹跳力。

 

HEAD: Fair length, powerful without being coarse and well developed cheek, finer in the bitch.

头部：长度适中，有力但不粗糙，面颊发达，母狗更出色。

 

CRANIAL REGION:

颅部：

Skull: The skull is flat between ears

头骨：头骨扁平于两耳之间。

Forehead: Slightly loose and fine wrinkles without excess on the skull.

前额：略松弛且有细小的皱纹，颅骨上没有多余皱纹。

Stop: Clearly defined but moderate.

额断：明确但适度。

 

FACIAL REGION:

面部：

Nose: Black nose and large nostrils, under no circumstances liver colour, red or brown.

鼻：黑色鼻子且鼻孔大，绝对不允许肝色、红色或棕色。

Muzzle: Broad from root to tip of the nose, not snipy. It could have a black masked at their puppyhood and the colour will fade out when they getting older.

口吻：宽从口吻根部到鼻尖，口鼻不长。青年时期有如黑色面具般的标记在面部，颜色逐渐变浅随着它们老去。

Lips: Tight with good pigmentation.

唇：紧致且有良好的色素。

Mouth: Tongue, gums, flews and roof of mouth, bluish black is preferred. Pink spotted tongue permissible. Solid pink tongue highly undesirable.

嘴：舌头、牙龈、上唇和口腔顶部，蓝黑色是首选。粉色斑点的舌头是允许的。舌头完全为粉色是不允许的。

Jaws/Teeth: Jaw strong with perfect scissor bite and set square to the jaws.

颌/牙：颌部强壮，有完美的剪状咬合，下颚呈方形。

Eyes: Dark brown or hazel, fairly large, almond shaped. Eye rims must be dark.

眼睛：深褐色或淡褐色，相当大，接近杏仁形。眼圈必须为黑色。

Ears: Set on sides of the skull. Medium sized, triangular, inclining forward and firmly pricked. Not cropped.

耳：位于头骨两侧。中等大小，三角形，向前倾斜的立耳。不剪耳。

 

NECK: Medium length, strong, set well on the shoulder.

脖颈：中等长度，强壮，与肩部很好的连接。

 

BODY:

躯干：

Top line: Level topline.

背线：背线水平。

Loin: Strong, broad, slightly roach.

腰部：强壮、宽，轻微拱起。

Chest: Deep reaching the elbows. Depth of chest is half the height at withers. Well developed forechest. Ribs well sprung but not barrel shaped.

胸：胸深至肘部。胸深高度是肩高的一半。肋骨发育良好，但不是桶状。

Underline and belly: Without excessive tuck-up.

下腹线和腹部：没有过度上收。

Croup: Moderately sloping.

臀部：适度倾斜。

 

TAIL: Tail set high and rise in action, moderately long, round at base and tapering to a fine point. Stay straight stiffen and carried high.

尾：尾根高，在运动中上举，中等长度，尾根部圆逐渐变细至尾尖。保持坚挺且高举。

 

LIMBS

四肢

Forequarters:

前躯：

~Shoulder: Well laid back, not loaded.

肩：后倾角度良好，不塌陷。

~Elbow: Firm, turning neither in nor out.

肘部：结实，不外翻。

~Forearm: Forelegs straight and upright well under the hound, good substance and round in bone, not tapering off to feet.

前臂：前腿直，狩猎中也同样，良好的骨量，至足部也不会太细。

~Pastern: Short and slightly slopping.

系部：短且略微倾斜。

~Forefeet: Tight and firm. Well knuckled up and strongly padded. Not hare-footed. Nails short.

前脚：结实紧凑。良好的趾关节和强壮的脚垫。不是兔脚。指甲短。

 

Hindquarters:

后驱：

~Thigh: Well built thigh with strong muscle.

大腿：结实的大腿且赋有强健的肌肉。

~Stifle: Well bent.

后膝：弯曲良好。

~Hock joint: Firm, well let down and parallel to each other.

踝关节：稳固，平行垂直于地面。

~Hind feet: Tight and firm. Well knuckled up and strongly padded. Not hare-footed. Nail short.

后脚：结实紧凑。良好的趾关节和强壮的脚垫。不是兔脚。指甲短。

 

GAIT/MOVEMENT: Back level and firm. Stride free, long reaching in front and straight without high action, hind legs showing drive. Should not move close behind nor paddle nor plait in front.

步态/步容：背部水平且结实，步幅流畅，毫不费力的笔直向前伸展，后躯有驱动力。向前时不应有后腿过近、摇摆或前肢打拌现象。

 

COAT:

被毛：

Hair: Short and very harsh without any undercoat.

毛质：短且非常粗，没有底毛。

Colour: Red ( The variation from dark to light )

毛色：红色（从浅到深的变化）

 

SIZE: Ideal height at withers  Dogs  45-50cm；Bitch    40-45cm

尺寸：理想肩高 公犬 45-50厘米；母犬 40-45厘米

          

FAULTS:

缺陷：

Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded as exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health, welfare of the dog and its ability to perform its traditional work.

任何背离上述观点皆被视为缺陷，其严重程度与对犬只健康与保障、行动力和工作能力所造成的影响成正比。

DISQUALIFYING FAULTS:

失格：

~ Aggressive or overly shy.

有攻击性或过于胆怯。

~ Any dog clearly showing physical or behavioural abnormalities shall be disqualified.

任何身体或行为上，明显表现失常的犬均视为失格。

 

N.B.:

注：

~ Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into scrotum.

公犬必须具备两个明显正常的睾丸、且完全置于阴囊中。

~ Only functionally and clinically healthy dogs, with breed typical conformation should be used for breeding.

只有功能性与身体机能健全，且具备典型的犬种特性的狗，可以用于繁殖。
